Comfort, convenience and economy, together with strong performance to move you swiftly through the city streets. The SH125i is ready to go.
Personal Contract Purchase (PCP)
Your repayments will be less than traditional finance. You put down a deposit on a bike, and we calculate its Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV). We deduct this from the price of the bike and your monthly payments are based on what’s left. You can then choose to pay the GMFV and keep your Honda, return it or part-exchange it for a new bike.

Part of the million-selling SH family whose founding member, the SH50, went on sale in 1984, the four-stroke Honda SH125 first hit the market in Europe in 2001. Ever since, for 15 years it has quietly and consistently gone about its mission to provide stylish, fun and fuss-free transport – becoming one of the continent’s favourites along the way. That first machine laid down the blueprint for success: a frugal-natured but lively engine tied to nimble, sure-footed handling underpinned by the stability that large diameter 16-inch wheels deliver – all delivered with elegant, premium styling.
Fuel injected with PGM-FI in 2005, over the last 11 years the SH125i has come to represent the ultimate in urban transport with the perfect balance of style, reliability, economy and downright usability. And of course its story is one of constant, careful evolution reflecting the developing needs and expectations of owners and Honda’s desire to keep on giving them an even better version of their SH. In 2013 it gained Honda’s eSP (enhanced Smart Power) low friction engine and Idling Stop technology, boosting both power delivery and fuel economy.
For 2017 the SH125i, manufactured at Honda’s Atessa factory in Italy, is renewed once more. It’s smarter and sharper, even more convenient to use and as cost effective as ever to own and run. It could never be anything else – it is an SH, after all

The unseen foundation of the 17YM SH125i remains unchanged – the tough, easy handling chassis and responsive, efficient engine – but thanks to revised PGM-FI fuel injection overall performance is improved and the machine is now EURO4 compliant.
What is obviously new is the bodywork, which evolves further the trademark SH flowing curves. The front/rear lights are now LED and as all scooter riders know it’s the details that make all the difference – so the SH125i is now equipped with Honda Smart Key technology, plus a larger glove box with built-in charger.
SH125i – ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD!
Styling & Equipment
Whatever direction the 17YM SH125i’s styling direction took it had to remain true to the tried and tested SH formula – look great but be ready to work for the rider. And Honda’s team of engineers chose to subtly build on the previous design’s organic shaping by deftly working more sinuous, rounded lines into the body front to back, adding a contemporary feel with even more premium presence. The distinctive headlight, taillight and position light are now also all LED.
While its form is changed, the SH125i’s overall function firmly revolves around its owner. A natural riding position, with excellent weather protection from the upright front portion of the body, ensures comfort and the flat floor gives a wide degree of freedom for foot placement and getting on and off the machine.
To make daily life onboard the SH125i that little bit more convenient it’s now fitted with the Honda Smart Key system. The Smart Key itself resides in the rider’s pocket and does away with the need to constantly insert and withdraw a key for ignition, fuel cap and seat. It has two switches: the smart function on/off and ‘answer back’, which flickers the indicators for identification from a distance.
With the Smart Key present one push of the machine-mounted main switch powers it up and makes it possible to turn, giving the rider control of the ignition and steering lock, and, via two rocker switches, the fuel cap and seat. It also illuminates when pushed – or from the answer back function of the Smart Key – with a blue light.
Up front the glove box is larger in volume and also now houses a useful 12V charging socket – and of course the all-important utility hook secures bags safely. The 7.5L fuel tank gives a potential range of well over 300km.
The flat seat provides plenty of support and room to move around and its carefully contoured shape, plus the slim floor, makes reaching the ground easy. As many journeys around town involve a pillion there is plenty of room for two; retractable aluminium pillion footplates tuck away when not in use and provide a stable platform – especially under braking – when needed for the passenger.
A pair of helmet holders are placed either side at the front of the main under-seat storage area, which itself can accommodate a full-face helmet. The large rear carrier – made of super-tough resin – is ready for installation of the optional top box.
Easy to read analogue meters are used for both fuel and temperature gauges and the speedometer is a large, highly visible dial with a needle that sweeps through its entire arc when the ignition is switched on.
The SH125i’s engine is a compact, highly durable unit. It makes good power where scooter riders need it most, in the low to mid-range area and is quiet in operation. Revised PGM-FI mapping gives peak power of 9kW @ at 8,500rpm, with peak torque of 11.5Nm delivered @ 7,000rpm.
And its superb fuel efficiency of 47.4 km/l (WMTC mode) presents low running costs to the owner and a positive environmental message – further enhanced by its new EURO4 status. The allowable limits for exhaust tailpipe pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hyrdrocarbons and nitrous oxide specified by EURO4 are approximately half of those for EURO3.
A key fuel-saving technology incorporated into the SH125i is Idling Stop. It’s operated via a switch on the right handlebar and, when enabled, automatically stops the engine running after three seconds at idle, and re-starts it instantly when the throttle grip is twisted.
It’s seamless in use, thanks to a swing-back system that returns the crank to its position before air intake, and a decompression mechanism that negates cranking resistance due to compression. The ACG starter also generates electricity, doing away with a conventional system’s motor and gears.
The 125cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled 2-valve engine is a masterpiece of mass centralisation. The radiator, rather than being mounted at the front of the machine has been built into the engine itself for a much simpler and lighter layout. Its core is highly efficient allowing the use of a smaller, lighter cooling fan.
A compact combustion chamber matches burn velocity and cooling performance, perfectly tailoring torque characteristics to suit urban riding conditions. Bore and stroke is set at 52.4 x 57.9mm, with compression ratio of 11.0:1. The air intake port is smooth, assisting gas flow and optimised ignition timing combines with the water jacket and radiator’s efficient cooling to improve ‘knocking’ resistance.
Low-friction technologies are employed internally; the cylinder sleeve uses minute splines on its outer surface to reduce oil consumption and improve cooling and the cylinder is offset, further reducing friction.
A shell-type needle bearing is used for the rocker arm shaft while smaller, lighter rollers work in conjunction with the cam profile and valve spring load. Rolling resistance within the transmission is reduced by the use of three main bearings, all designed to deal with the loads they each individually receive.
The SH125i’s high-tensile steel tubular underbone frame is manufactured with both rigidity and durability in mind. Lightweight 16-inch aluminium die-cast wheels are key to its sure-footed handling ability and stability on a variety of road surfaces. New for 2017 they mount Michelin City Grip tubeless tyres. Wheelbase is a compact 1340mm, with rake and trail of 26°/85mm. Seat height is 799mm with a wet weight of 136.9kg and 180kg carrying capacity.
The rear shocks feature 5-step preload adjustment with 83mm axle travel. The 33mm telescopic front forks, with 89mm of travel, ensure excellent road holding and are tuned to give a compliant, yet controlled ride. ABS is fitted as standard; both front and rear discs have a 240mm diameter; the front caliper is a three-piston design, the rear a single piston.
The 17YM SH125i will be available in 5 colour options:
Pearl Nightstar Black

Available as optional extras for the SH125i are a top box and windshield/knuckle visor that provide extra weather protection, and all fully complement the bodywork’s silhouette.
